Butterfly Promotions was established in the early 1970’s to promote entertainment at outdoor concerts and community halls. At this time, the club industry was starting to look at using rock bands to gain a share to the market. The company obtained its first Theatrical Agents license in 1971 and began supplying entertainers and bands to the club and hotel industry.
During the last 39 years, we have supplied every popular band in Australia as well as numerous overseas acts. From Billy Thorpe, Del Shannon, George Thoroughood, Ricky Nelson, Bo Diddly, Acker Bilk, Steptoe and son, to all the top Australian bands; Sherbet, Cold Chisel, The Angels, John Farnham, INXS, Little River Band, Midnight Oil, Split Enz, Misex, Ted Mulry, Men at Work, Dragon and hundreds more.
The early 80’s saw the company’s rapid expansion into sound and lighting requirements for entertainers, and became the 3rd largest production supply company in New South Wales. Butterfly Records was also formed at this time, we recorded and managed many successful bands including; Tarquin, Liberty, Sweethearts, Swingshift and numerous Country music acts.
Always ready to embrace new ideas in entertainment and promotions, we embarked on providing poker machine promotions for the clubs, and traveled regularly to the USA to bring back new and exciting ideas.
In the early 90’s, we brought back some LaserDisc Karaoke equipment, and formed one of Australia’s most successful Karaoke Promotion companies. This company has promoted talent quests and competitions, with great prizes including; trips to the USA, showcases in Los Angeles and New Zealand, Cash Prizes, Cruises, and thousands of successful nights of entertainment over the past 15 years in schools, clubs, pubs, corporate functions and private parties.
We specialise in giving the venue first class service and promote all the entertainment that we supply. The company has achieved preferred contractor status with the Club Managers Association, and the Australian Hotels Association.
The principal of the company, Peter Evans, has been on the executive committee of the Theatrical Agents Association for 20 years, and is currently Vice President of the Australian Entertainment Industry Association.
Butterfly Promotions has been involved in a great number of major concerts, including; WIN TV Carols By Candlelight for 7 years, San Giovanni Italian Festival for 21 years, Narrara Rock Concerts in the 80’s, Worlds Biggest Barbeque, and the Tamworth County Music Festival for 10 years.
